The adopted Development Plan for the Site comprises the adopted South Kesteven Local Plan (January 2020) and The Lincolnshire Minerals and Waste Local Plan (June 2016). All planning applications must be determined in accordance with the adopted Development Plan, unless material considerations indicate otherwise.
There is no defined settlement boundary in the adopted plan however the site is adjacent to the built up area of Harlaxton. Harlaxton is identified as a Larger Village in the adopted and emerging Local Plan. David Wilson Homes consider that Harlaxton provides a range of services and facilities as well as public transport links to Grantham which is the largest settlement in the District.
South Kesteven is in the process of producing a new Local Plan. The Regulation 18 consultation was undertaken in April 2024 and the Regulation 19 consultation is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2025 with timescales to be confirmed by the Council. This Plan is expected to include proposed allocations to meet increased housing needs. This plan will currently be given no weight in the determination of planning applications.
